North and Middle Andaman: On 27/12/2023 based on an information received through the local resident of Bamboo Basthi, Baratang that a person is in possession of significant amount of venison. As a result, a joint team was constituted consisting of Police, AAJVS, and Forest officials of Baratang.
The team promptly arrived at Bamboo Basthi and initiated search operation. During the search operation approximately 17.3 kilograms of venison was recovered in an aluminium vessel at the residence of Shri Halan Barla. The recovered venison along with the aluminium vessel was seized at the spot from the possession of accused by the Forest Department.
Upon receiving the seizure intimation from the forest department, a case was registered at PS Baratang vide FIR No. 43/2023 dated 28/12/2023, U/s 7/8 PAT Regulation 1956. The accused, Halan Barla, S/o Late Jeevan Barla (aged about 68 yrs.) Private worker R/o Bamboo Basthi, Baratang, was arrested at PS Baratang. Further investigation is under process.
