Hajipur: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has detained a Deputy Chief Maintenance Manager (IRSS-2012) from East Central Railway in Hajipur, Vaishali District, Bihar, along with a private individual and a peon, in connection with a bribery case involving Rs.2 lakhs.
A case was filed against the Deputy Chief Maintenance Manager(CMM) of East Central Railway in Hajipur, Bihar, and others, including private individuals and representatives of private companies, as well as a peon. The allegations stated that the accused had a recurring practice of illicitly collecting gratuities from contractors associated with East Central Railway (ECR) in return for favoring them in the tendering process. It was further claimed that the bribes were channeled through a network of interconnected individuals and firms on behalf of a private company based in Tamil Nadu, which allegedly received favorable treatment in the tendering process.
CBI set a trap and apprehended the Deputy Chief Material Manager from ECR in Hajipur, Bihar, while accepting an undue advantage of Rs.2 lakhs through a peon. Searches were conducted at eight different locations in Bihar, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Punjab, resulting in the recovery of various incriminating documents and mobile phones.
The arrested individuals were presented before the Competent Court and subsequently placed in Judicial Custody.
