North and Middle Andaman: The Diglipur Police Station’s Excise team, including SI Dheeraj Kishen, HC (IRBn) Khokan Ch. Das, and PCs K.K. Pandey, Hari Krishna, and Trilochni, has once again demonstrated dedication to tackling illegal alcohol trade in the region. Acting on credible information, the team carried out a series of targeted raids in various locations, resulting in the successful seizure of a significant quantity of illicit IMFL. In these well-coordinated operations, the team confiscated 70 bottles of IMFL in varying quantities, along with 3 bottles of beer. Additionally, they seized 12 kg of illegal handia, highlighting the serious issue of illicit alcohol trade in the area. Subsequent cases were registered under the relevant sections of Excise Regulation.
In a separate raid on April 16, 2024, the Baratang Police Station team, consisting of PCs M. Ashok Kumar, Ramesh, and Karishma Lakra, led by SI Surjit Bhattacharya, SHO, PS Baratang, conducted a raid in Kanchangarh, Baratang. They successfully seized 52 kg of illicit handia from the possession of Hiralall Barik, a 57-year-old private worker from Kanchangarh, Baratang. As a result, a case under Excise Regulation has been registered against the accused.
All operations were carried out under the watchful supervision of Mr. Rahul L. Nair, IPS, SDPO Rangat, and Mr. Brij Mohan Meena, SDPO Diglipur, with overall direction and oversight from Ms. Geetanjali Khandelwal, IPS, Superintendent of Police, N&M Andaman District.
