Chandigarh: On April 8, police apprehended three individuals – Manoj Kumar from Maloya Colony, Kulbir Singh from Police Society Sector 51, and Ravi from Una – for engaging in the illicit sale of liquor, seizing 2150 nips of country-made liquor from them. Subsequently, the district crime cell of the UT police arrested the co-owner of a bottling plant on Sunday for his involvement in the production and distribution of illegal liquor. Identified as Anil, a resident of Bishanpura, Zirakpur, he holds a 45% stake in Mars Bottlers located in Village Shampura, Tehsil Haroli, District Una, HP. Anil confessed that, with his partner Mukesh Sangwan, he produced “Himachali santra desi” country-made liquor, packaged in PET bottles, which was supplied in the Chandigarh area by an individual named Bawa. Acting on the revelations made by the initial three detainees, the police arrested Anil Kumar. A search is underway for three more suspects – Mukesh Sangwan, Anil Thakur, and Bawa.
