Gurugram: The Gurugram police arrested seven persons with old currency notes worth Rs 5 crore from Sector 15 here today. The police got a tip-off that illegal currency exchange business was being carried out from a house. They raided the premises and found seven persons identified as Rajiv, Satish, Sandeep, Rajesh, Dinesh, Praveen and Amit along with old notes in the denomination of Rs 500 and 1000 in several plastic boxes. The accused were arrested and booked under relevant sections of the IPC and concerned departments were informed. Sources said accused Amit was carrying out the old currency business from a rented accommodation in this sector. A caller had called the police and informed about the money business. The police sent a decoy customer and managed to nab the accused. “This is a major recovery and may have many others involved. We are still interrogating the accused so can’t reveal much,” said Inspector Sajjan Singh, in-charge, Crime Branch Palam Vihar. ]]>
