Hyderabad: On 10.06.2024, the Bowenpally Police apprehended two offenders at their residences and arrested another individual who was preparing duplicate vehicle registration certificates. They recovered 14 two-wheelers and 4 duplicate vehicle registration certificates (RCs) from the offenders, all valued at 8 lakh rupees.
The accused have cases registered in the following police stations:
- cases in PS Bowenpally, 1 case in PS Trimulgherry, 1 case in PS Nampally, 1 case in PS Jeedimetla, 1 case in PS Alwal
Modus Operandi:
The accused, Raazak Khan (38 years old) and Yammala Yohanu, aka Yohanu (30 years old), reside in Suraram of Qutubullapur and Hafeezpet of Miyapur, respectively, and are friends. Facing financial issues due to various addictions, they planned to commit property offenses for easy money. Starting in October 2023, they began stealing bikes in Bowenpally, Trimulgherry, Nampally, Jeedimetla, Alwal, and other areas within the Hyderabad and Cyberabad Commissionerates.
They operated in residential areas during the early morning hours between 3:00 am and 6:00 am. After committing the thefts, they left the stolen bikes near the scene for one or two days before taking them away at a convenient time to avoid detection by police patrols. They sold the stolen bikes on OLX to unsuspecting buyers for Rs. 10,000 to 15,000 each. To meet the demand for original registration documents, they approached Goriparthi Venkatappayya, who ran a DTP center in Gollapalem Village, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh. Venkatappayya prepared duplicate registration certificates using information from the RTA website, charging Rs. 1,500 per document. With these duplicate RCs, the accused sold the vehicles on OLX and other platforms.
Thanks to the dedicated efforts of Detective Inspector of Police V. Sadar Naik, SHO B. Lakshmi Narayana Reddy, and the Bowenpally crime staff including SI D. Tuljaram, HC Anil (6645), PC B. Ramesh Murali (6249), PC M. Shiva Shankar (8237), PC M. Mahesh (8649), PC Shiva Kumar (3297), and HG B. Srinivasulu (1874), under the supervision of Asst. Commissioner of Police P.
