Chengalpattu: A drug awareness rally was held, attended by private college and school students, organized by the Prohibition and Anti-Drug Department at Venbakam Panchayat Union Middle School in Chengalpattu District. The event was inaugurated by District Head S. Arunraj. Over 500 students marched, holding awareness banners and raising anti-alcohol slogans. Leaflets about the dangers of drugs and alcohol were distributed to the public in passing vehicles. District Collector S. Arunraj participated in the rally, walking approximately two kilometers with the students from Venpakakkam School to the Chengalpattu District Collectorate via Tindivanam Road.
The Department of School Education, District Child Protection Unit, and Prohibition Enforcement Department jointly organized the rally. Following the rally, the District Administration Chief made a surprise visit to the Anganwadi center in Malayati Venpakkam, where he inspected the custard offered to the children and distributed custard and chocolates to them. Additionally, under the community afforestation scheme in Chengalpattu District Collectorate, the District Administration Chief planted about 350 saplings and encouraged students to plant saplings. Students from Vidyasagar Girls College, Alison Kasi High School, and Hilda Matriculation High School participated in the event, with the District Head distributing saplings to 250 students.
Deputy Collector Narayana Sharma, District Forest Officer Ravi Meena, Additional Collector (Development) Anamika Ramesh, Interview Assistant to District Collector (General) Indudhainambi, Assistant Commissioner (Excise) Irajan Babu, District Education Officer Ravichandran, District Principal Education Officer Interview Assistant Udayakumar, and other government officials were present.
