North Goa: Beginning on July 1, 2024, the North Goa District Police will implement a comprehensive overhaul of the region’s criminal legislation, replacing the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC), and the Indian Evidence Act (IE Act). This significant legal reform aims to enhance the efficacy and robustness of the criminal justice system.
The new laws will introduce stricter penalties for various offenses, streamline procedural aspects, and incorporate a range of new provisions to address contemporary challenges and ensure a more just and equitable legal framework. The overarching goal is to create a more effective deterrent against crime and to expedite the legal process, ensuring swifter and fairer justice for all.
