Mangalagiri: On 27.6.2024, Hon’ble Home Minister Mrs. Vangalapudi Anitha visited the DGP Office in Mangalagiri and held a review meeting with the DGP of Andhra Pradesh and other senior officials. During the press conference, she emphasized the urgent need to control cybercrime. Given that these crimes are technology-based, inspectors and SIs with computer knowledge need to be trained and deployed. She stressed the importance of creating a people-friendly policing environment to ensure that the public can approach the police without fear. Special attention is needed for missing women complaints, which should not be neglected.

Reforms in the police department are necessary, and additional funds from the Central Government are required to improve police infrastructure. In this regard, she plans to meet with the Central Home Minister soon, along with the AP DGP.

A single toll-free number for women’s protection, and for reporting issues related to ganja and drugs, will be made available to the public. The meeting covered four main agenda points: ganja, women’s protection, police welfare, and police recruitment. The ultimate goal is to create a safe and secure environment for the people of AP, where they can live happily.

To eradicate ganja, a 100-day action plan will be prepared. A cabinet subcommittee consisting of the Education, Home, Excise, Health, and Tribal Welfare departments has been formed. The public is also urged to cooperate with the police to stop the usage and transportation of ganja to eradicate this menace completely. Additionally, there are proposals for constructing permanent buildings for the newly formed district police offices.
