<![CDATA[GHAZIABAD: Following an encounter on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday at Bhowpura tri section, police arrested an accused who had kidnapped a boy from Rajender Nagar on 7 September and had allegedly let him go after ransom was paid. The accused Sunil sustained bullet injury in his leg in the gunfight in which a SSI was also received bullet injury in his elbow. While Sunil who has been arrested and had to be admitted in GTB hospital, SSI Jeetender Kumar is undergoing treatment in MMG Hospital. "We were tipped off that kidnappers of Sahil would be travelling to Ghaziabad from Delhi on Friday night and accordingly we laid a trap near Bhowpura tri section" said Mr. HN Singh, SSP Ghaziabad. " Mr.Jeetender Kumar SSI spotted an apache bike with two occupants who were later identified as prime accused Sunil and Robin and when they were asked to stop they started fleeing towards Koyal enclave and when asked to stop they fired at the police in which Mr. Jeetender Kumar SSI was hit on his elbow forcing us to retaliate in which Sonu was hit in his leg and was arrested " added Mr.Singh. His accomplice Robin managed to give police a slip. On 7 September a 11-year Sahil a resident of Rajender Nagar was kidnapped while he was returning home after tuition. According to family members the kidnappers who were three in numbers took him to Baghpat in a i10 car. Next day the family received a ransom call of Rs 10 lakh. According to Satish Nagar , Sahil's mother travelled to Baghpat with the ransom amount and on September 8 rescued the boy after paying ransom amount. But police claims that the no ransom amount was paid and the boy was let go after the kidnappers spotted Police personnel in plain clothes. "To my knowledge no ransom amount was paid and the boy was released because of police pressure " said Mr. HN Singh. "However the matter is still being investigated as we suspect involvement of someone close to the family" added Mr. HN Singh. When asked how did the police managed to identify the kidnappers, Mr. Singh said that the car in which Sahil was being taken had stopped at petrol pump while on way to Baghpat. "We secured CCTV footage of the kidnappers who the boy identified and that is how we came to know of kidnapper's identity" said Mr. HN Singh.]]>
