Gwalior: Superintendent of Police, Gwalior Mr. Dharamvir Singh, has instructed the local police force to investigate cyber fraud cases within the district. Acting on these directives, Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Shiyaz K.M., overseeing Gwalior City’s divisions (East/Crime/Traffic), tasked Additional Superintendent of Police Mr. Ayush Gupta and Deputy Superintendent of Police Mr. Nagendra Singh Sikarwar with probing online fraud incidents in the city.
Their mandate includes curbing such activities and apprehending those responsible. In response to a complaint filed on June 9 by Rahul Bhadauria at the Crime Branch, alleging the creation of a fraudulent Instagram account in his name for soliciting money under false pretenses of job opportunities at the civil hospital, the Crime Branch team acted swiftly. They obtained information on the suspects from Instagram’s legal department, leading to the arrest of Shivam Savita, son of Manoj Savita from Pichor Tiraha Dabra district Gwalior (currently residing in Aditya Nagar CP Colony Gwalior), and Shiva Vishwakarma, son of Mahendra Vishwakarma from village Nava Nagar district Singrauli (currently residing in Aditya Nagar CP Colony Gwalior).
The mobile phone used to create the fake Instagram account was recovered from the suspects during their arrest. The police are currently interrogating the arrested individuals regarding the extent of their fraudulent activities. A public advisory urges caution: Verify all social media (Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp) requests before accepting them.
