Wayanad: In light of the recent natural disaster in Wayanad, the Thiruvananthapuram police headquarters has established a fully operational 24-hour control room to manage the situation. This control room is under the direct oversight of the state police chief, ensuring a high level of coordination and response. The public is encouraged to provide any relevant information to the control room, which can be reached at the phone numbers 9497900402 and 0471 2721566.
To bolster the relief operations, senior police officials, including the Inspector General (IG) of the North Region and the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Kannur, are scheduled to arrive in Wayanad. They will lead the relief efforts on the ground. The state police chief has also directed the Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) for the law and order department to oversee and coordinate the entire operation.
In preparation for the rescue and relief efforts, police personnel from the fourth and fifth battalions of the Kerala Armed Police, along with the Malabar Special Police, have been redeployed to Wayanad. Many of these personnel have undergone specialized training in disaster management operations, equipping them with the skills needed to handle such emergencies effectively.
Furthermore, a dedicated special police team has been assigned to carry out rescue operations in the neighboring Malappuram district, which has also been impacted by the disaster. The control room at the police headquarters has been equipped with sufficient manpower to handle the incoming information and to ensure that critical details are promptly relayed to the search and rescue teams in the affected areas. This centralized coordination aims to streamline the response efforts and maximize the efficiency of the rescue and relief operations.
