Malda: On the afternoon of August 18, 2024, acting on specific intelligence, a coordinated operation was conducted by the CMG Malda in partnership with the Gazole Police Station. The joint team successfully intercepted a Siliguri-bound bus bearing the registration number WB 63A 3517. The operation led to the detention of one individual, Sayed Ali, also known as Chand, a 50-year-old resident of Village Sardhaha Dorjipara, P.O. Golapganj, under the jurisdiction of Kaliachak Police Station. He is the son of the late Taimur Ali.
The search operation, meticulously documented through videography, revealed two bundles of what is suspected to be Fake Indian Currency Notes (FICN) in denominations of Rs. 500. These notes were skillfully hidden within the soles of the slippers that Sayed Ali was wearing. The slippers had been carefully sewn to conceal the currency. Upon closer examination, a total of 301 pieces of these counterfeit notes were recovered, amounting to a sum of Rs. 150,500/-.
Following this discovery, legal proceedings have been initiated, and a case is currently being registered. The investigation is ongoing, with further leads being pursued to uncover any larger criminal syndicate involved in the production and distribution of FICN in the region.
