Thiruvananthapuram: The Thiruvananthapuram City Police launched an extensive investigation immediately after receiving the report of the missing child. The investigation was carried out in and around the city, with multiple teams assigned to different areas. During the search, information surfaced that she had been spotted on a train heading to Kanyakumari. Consequently, the investigation was extended to Nagercoil and Kanyakumari. Later, when the police released details indicating that the child was traveling on a train from Chennai Tambaram to Guwahati, members of the Malayali association in Visakhapatnam alerted the police to her presence there.
The 13-year-old girl from Assam had gone missing from Thiruvananthapuram on the morning of August 20, 2024. Her parents, who had left for work after leaving her at home, discovered her absence when they returned in the afternoon. Upon inquiring with her siblings, they learned that she had left home with some clothes packed in a bag. The father then filed a missing person report at the Kazhakootam police station. The investigation was subsequently led by Thiruvananthapuram City Police Commissioner G Spurgeon Kumar.
