Faridkot: The Faridkot Police Shakti Helpdesk took a significant step in promoting child safety and awareness by organizing an extensive seminar at the Government Primary Smart School in Village Duareyana. This vital initiative aimed to educate young students on the pressing issue of child abuse, equipping them with knowledge crucial for their safety and well-being.
During the seminar, police officers and counselors engaged the students in detailed discussions about the different forms of child abuse, ensuring the children understood the seriousness of the issue. Special attention was given to the concept of good and bad touch, breaking it down in simple terms to help the students grasp the boundaries of appropriate physical contact. Through interactive activities and examples, the students were taught how to recognize situations where they might feel uncomfortable or unsafe and were encouraged to trust their instincts.
In addition to these lessons, the seminar highlighted the importance of taking prompt action when faced with abuse or discomfort. The children were provided with key information about emergency helpline numbers—112 for general emergencies and 1098, the dedicated Childline service for reporting child abuse or any distress involving children. Officers emphasized that these helplines are available 24/7 to offer support, guidance, and immediate intervention when needed.
This initiative by Faridkot Police was designed not only to create awareness but also to foster an environment where children feel empowered to protect themselves and others. The seminar was part of a broader campaign aimed at preventing abuse and exploitation by encouraging open communication, raising awareness about children’s rights, and building trust between young citizens and the police force.
