Chandigarh: In continuation of our dedicated efforts to raise awareness about road safety, the Road Safety Cell of the Chandigarh Traffic Police conducted an extensive sensitization session for a group of 23 students from Class 9, accompanied by one teacher from Government High School, Sector 24, Chandigarh. The program was held at the Chandigarh Traffic Police office in Sector 23A.
During this informative session, the students were thoroughly briefed on essential traffic rules and regulations aimed at ensuring their safety as both pedestrians and future drivers. A strong focus was placed on several critical aspects of road safety, including the importance of wearing helmets while riding two-wheelers and the necessity of always fastening seatbelts in vehicles, whether in the front or rear seats. The session also emphasized the significance of lane discipline, stressing that sticking to the correct lane not only ensures a smooth traffic flow but also reduces the likelihood of accidents.
In addition, the dangers of mobile phone use while driving or crossing roads were highlighted, as such distractions can lead to severe, often fatal, consequences. The session reinforced the importance of staying alert and undistracted while navigating the roads. Respect for road signs and signals was another key point covered in the session, educating the students on how obeying these signs are essential for the safety of all road users.
This initiative by the Chandigarh Traffic Police aims to inculcate a sense of responsibility and caution in young minds, making them more aware of the potential hazards on the road and equipping them with the knowledge to act responsibly.
