Tenkasi: Following the orders of the Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu, and based on the recommendation of the Additional Director of Police, with the instructions of the Chief of Police, South Zone, and under the supervision of the Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tirunelveli Sub-Division, as well as the District Superintendent of Police, Tenkasi, Mr. V.R. Sreenivasan, female police personnel have been appointed as constables in each of the 19 girls’ schools and colleges in the district as part of the “Police Sister” scheme. This initiative aims to ensure the safety and well-being of female students.
The appointed women constables were called to the district police office for a consultation meeting led by the District Superintendent of Police. The constables are required to visit the schools and colleges once a week to engage with students, discuss any issues they face, and provide their contact numbers for easy communication. The District Superintendent further emphasized that the “Police Sisters” should serve as a bridge between the police department and the students, encouraging the students to share information openly and without hesitation.
