Pathanamthitta: The induction program for first-year graduate students at Pandalam NSS College was organized by the Internal Quality Assurance Cell in collaboration with the District Police School Protection Group. The event was presided over by the Principal, Prof. (Dr.) M.G. Sanalkumar, and inaugurated by Pathanamthitta DYSP Nandakumar, who also conducted an anti-drug awareness session. DYSP Nandakumar highlighted the shift in drug use from substances like ganja, hashish, and brown sugar to more dangerous chemical drugs such as MDMA, stressing the increasing availability of these drugs on college campuses. He emphasized that, as the future of society and the nation rests on the shoulders of the youth, students must take extra care to avoid falling into drug addiction. He also pointed out the shared responsibility of teachers, parents, and society in addressing this issue.
Following this, Pathanamthitta Cyber Cell Inspector Jobin George delivered a session on “Cyber Crimes and Precautions.” He warned about the rising number of Malayalis unknowingly getting involved in cyber-related offenses and becoming victims or suspects, urging everyone to stay alert against the growing threats of cyber fraud and crime. SCPOTN Anish and Advocate Anil P. Nair conducted classes on the Prohibition of Ragging Act.
DYSP Nandakumar informed that the Kerala Police’s anti-drug and cyber crime awareness campaigns, initiated by District Police Chief V.G. Vinod Kumar, will also be conducted in other colleges across the district.
In addition to the Principal, the program was supported by department heads such as Prof. Dr. Josna from the Economics Department, Pandalam Police Inspector T.D. Prajeesh, SPG officials, Pandalam Janmaitri Police, and other dignitaries.
