Pathanamthitta: Acting on a tip-off, the Tiruvalla Police arrested two individuals in possession of approximately 18 kg of ganja during an operation led by the District Police Chief’s Dansaf team. The cannabis was being transported in a National Permit Bharat Benz lorry. A total of 12 packs were stored in the vehicle, which had come from the Thiruvalla Muthur side. After hours of surveillance, the police intercepted the lorry at 3:30 pm today. S Sandeep (24), from Palamoot, Punalur, Piravantur, Kollam, and Jitin Mohan (39), from Koduman Ayikad Kodi, were taken into custody. An air gun was also recovered from the vehicle.
Further action was taken by the Thiruvalla police. The investigation revealed that the accused were smuggling the ganja from Orissa en route to Kolkata with other goods. The lorry is owned by Anil, a resident of Kottarakkara. Additionally, it was found that Vishnu Vijayan, a native of Adoor involved in the Kappa case, is connected to the incident. Under the direction of the District Police Chief, a detailed investigation into the source of the ganja has been initiated. The accused are currently being interrogated.
Jithin has been linked to several criminal cases across various police stations, including Koduman, Adoor, Pathanamthitta, Kunnikode, Punalur, Kundara, Pooyapally, Pathanapuram, and Karunagappally in Kollam district, as well as Varkala and Kayamkulam police stations.
