<![CDATA[The existance of rampant bike racing on the city’s outskirts led to rivalry between two persons, resulting in the murder of a 23-year-old youth at Maduravoyal. The victim, K. Shankar, of Gangaiamman Nagar was found lying in a pool of blood near the MGR Nagar junction when the Maduravoyal police reached the spot at 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Police personnel rushed him to the Government Kilpauk Hospital. However, he died on way to the hospital. Police investigation disclosed that he was hacked by four of his friends, who turned enimies following rivalry in a bike race held a couple of days ago on Poonamallee High Road. During the race, a dispute arose between him and his friend ‘Pulsar’ Sathish. Police said that Shankar, who had a criminal past, slashed Sathish, who had to undergo a surgery on the face. In retaliation, Sathish along with other friends plotted to kill Shankar, the police said. On coming to know that Shankar was roaming alone, the gang led by Sathish reached the spot and brutally cut him all over the body and fled the scene. “Preliminary investigation has revealed that the murder was due to an animosity between two groups over racing. Further investigation is on,” a senior police officer said. Police are on the lookout for ‘Pulsar’ Sathish and three of his accomplices.]]>
