Jharkhand, Saraikela Kharsawan: Ahead of the forthcoming Assembly General Elections in 2024, a major crackdown was initiated by the Superintendent of Police, Saraikela-Kharsawan, acting on a tip-off received through confidential sources. The operation was part of a broader effort to curb the illegal manufacturing, distribution, and sale of liquor and narcotics, which pose a significant threat to the integrity of the election process and public safety.
The raid was conducted at Dalbhanga market, under the jurisdiction of the Kuchai police station (Dalbhanga OP), known to be a hub for illegal activities. Law enforcement officers launched the operation with precision and efficiency, focusing on dismantling illegal liquor networks that had been thriving in the area.
During the raid, 15 large boxes filled with illegal English liquor were uncovered. Upon further inspection, it was found that these boxes contained a total of 362 bottles of English liquor. In addition to the liquor, authorities also recovered a substantial quantity of beer, seizing 384 bottles along with 24 cans of beer, which were ready for illegal sale in the market. A mobile phone was also confiscated from the scene, believed to have been used for coordinating the illegal operations.
The police successfully arrested one individual, who was apprehended at the location and is suspected to be involved in the illegal liquor trade. This individual has been placed in judicial custody pending further investigation, as law enforcement continues to investigate the extent of the network and its potential connections to other criminal activities in the region.
This operation serves as a critical step in maintaining law and order during the sensitive period leading up to the elections, with authorities vowing to take stringent actions against any activities that may disrupt peace or violate electoral laws.
