Karnataka, Bengaluru: In a significant development, former Chief Minister and current Union Minister HD Kumaraswamy, his son Nikhil Kumaraswamy, and JDS leader Suresh Babu have been named in an FIR filed at Sanjayanagar Police Station, Bengaluru. The case, registered under BNS Section 224, stems from a complaint by ADGP Chandrashekar, who heads the Lokayukta Special Investigation Team (SIT), alleging threats and malicious allegations against him. The FIR was registered following an order from the 42nd ACMM court.
The case has its roots in an ongoing investigation where ADGP Chandrashekar is probing allegations against Kumaraswamy regarding illegal mining contracts granted to Sri Sai Venkateswara Minerals (SSVM). After Chandrashekar sought the Governor’s permission to prosecute Kumaraswamy, the former CM held a press conference criticizing the officer, questioning his background and integrity.
Kumaraswamy has dismissed the FIR as politically motivated by the Congress government, while Chandrashekar, in a letter to his staff, quoted George Bernard Shaw about not fighting with pigs and urged them not to be discouraged by such accusations and threats. The incident has sparked protests by JDS workers against the IPS officer.
