<![CDATA[Bijnor: Police on Saturday rescued 16 buffaloes being taken in a container on Delhi-Pauri highway to Saharanpur for slaughtering. Two persons have been detained in this connection. According to Station house officer Fatah Singh the police had received a tip-off about cattle smuggling and a team was waiting to intercept the container on the highway near a petrol pump. When the police team spotted it, they stopped it and found 16 buffaloes in it. Two persons were detained and a case has been registered under section 11 of the Animal Cruelty Act. The buffaloes were from Nahtaur. According to the law, only seven buffaloes can be carried in a container whereas 16 were being carried, police said]]>
