Karnataka, Mysore: The Lokayukta Police have registered a formal FIR against three revenue officials from HD Kote taluk for allegedly soliciting and accepting a bribe through the digital payment platform PhonePay. The accused officials include Tehsildar Srinivas, Revenue Inspector Govindaraju from Antarsante, and Village Accountant Nagaraj of N. Belattur village.
The case originated from a complaint by BV Mamata Kumari of HD Kote, who alleged that the officials had illegally confiscated 5 acres and 1 gunte of land from Survey No. 10 in Gundattur village, violating a court order. The officials reportedly demanded a bribe to restore the land’s original status and facilitate its distribution and sale. In the initial stage, they were caught accepting a 5,000 rupee bribe through PhonePay, leading to the registration of the FIR against all three officials. The Lokayukta Police have launched an investigation into the matter.
