Assam, Guwahati: The Guwahati Police with the help of their Cyber Crime Police Station, successfully recovered Rs.2,35,310 that was credited back into the bank account of a victim who had fallen into prey to a fake online investment scam. The victim is a resident of Satgaon and had earlier lost a staggering Rs.15,00,000 to the fraudulent scheme.
The case highlights the growing threat of the online scams by the cyber criminals and the proactive steps being taken by law enforcement of Assam to address such incidents in the state.
The Cyber Crime team of Assam is continuing its investigation to trace and recover the remaining amount of the victim while they are also working to identify and apprehend the culprits behind the cybercrime operation.
Authorities have urged the citizens of Assam to exercise caution while engaging in online financial transactions and investment schemes and to emphasize the importance of verifying the authenticity of such platforms.
