The Indian Army’s Corps of Engineers units and establishments have been honored with the WCDM-DRR Awards 2024 for their exceptional efforts in disaster relief and mitigation.
At a prestigious ceremony in New Delhi, Hon’ble Minister of Commerce Shri Piyush Goyal presented awards to four Sapper units and establishments across two categories for their contributions to relief operations, including the Wayanad landslides, Sikkim floods caused by a Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF), Silkyara tunnel collapse, Giaspura gas leak (Ludhiana), and support during the G20 Summit.
The WCDM serves as a global platform, bringing together scientists, researchers, policymakers, and practitioners to address critical issues in disaster and risk management. The WCDM-DRR Awards recognize stakeholders who have made significant contributions to various aspects of disaster risk reduction.
