Assam, Cachar: In a major crackdown on the drug trafficking in Assam, the Cachar police had intercepted an auto-rickshaw at the Silchar-Aizawl Bypass and recovered 30,000 Yaba tablets which are valued at Rs.9 crore. The drugs consignment was reportedly being smuggled from a neighboring state of Assam.
The police acting on a specific intelligence conducted a thorough search which lead to the seizure of the narcotics. The police had also arrested one individual. Law enforcement authorities are now further investigating the links of the trafficking network.
The Chief Minister of Assam Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma praised Assam Police for their efforts. He reaffirmed the state’s commitment against smuggling of drugs and this operation marks another significant step in Assam’s ongoing fight against drug smuggling.
