Uttarakhand, Almora: As part of the “Drugs Free Devbhoomi Mission 2025,” the Almora District Police carried out a major operation targeting illegal drug trafficking, leading to the arrest of two individuals, Shubham Singh Bisht and Sikki Khan. The arrests took place during a routine inspection near Karbala Tiraha, where law enforcement officers intercepted the accused and conducted a thorough search.
During the operation, the police recovered a substantial quantity of illegal narcotics, including 1.14 kilograms of opium and 106 grams of smack. The estimated market value of the seized contraband exceeds Rs.32 lakh. This significant recovery underscores the police department’s ongoing efforts to curb the drug trade and prevent the proliferation of narcotics in the region.
Preliminary investigations revealed that one of the accused, Shubham Singh Bisht, already has three criminal cases registered against him in Nainital. Law enforcement agencies are now actively gathering further details about his past offenses and any potential connections to larger drug networks. Additionally, efforts are underway to ascertain the criminal background of Sikki Khan and determine whether he has any prior involvement in illegal activities.
