Uttarakhand, Dehradun: In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, the Dehradun Police has taken proactive steps to ensure the safety and security of Kashmiri students residing or studying in the district. On 22/04/2025, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Dehradun, following the incident, directed all jurisdictional officers and station in-charges to maintain constant contact with Kashmiri students in their areas to ensure their safety. There are currently 1,201 Kashmiri students studying across various educational institutions in the district, and the police have already completed their verification process.
To further bolster security measures, the SSP organized a meeting on 24/04/2025 at Bidholi Police Outpost with heads of educational institutions and PG (paying guest) managers where Kashmiri students are residing or studying. The meeting focused on gathering detailed information about the students and issuing clear instructions to ensure their protection. Managers were advised to immediately report any security concerns to the police and to assure students of their safety. In addition, extra units of the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC) have been deployed to key locations where Kashmiri students reside, ensuring regular patrols to maintain safety.
