Chennai, Tamil Nadu: In a significant step towards child protection, the Tamil Nadu Police has launched a newsletter to highlight their consistent efforts in tackling crimes against children. These include offenses such as child trafficking, child abuse, cybercrimes targeting minors, and other forms of exploitation.
The newsletter will serve as a periodic publication to share key developments, case studies, and proactive initiatives taken by the Tamil Nadu Police in safeguarding children across the state. This initiative aims to bring greater awareness and transparency to the public regarding the Department’s efforts in ensuring child safety.
The newsletter was formally launched today (10.07.2025) at the Tamil Nadu Police Headquarters, Chennai by DGP/Head of the Police Department, Mr. Shankar Jiwal, IPS. The first issue was received by Shri. B. Vino Varadan, IRSE, General Manager, Southern Railway.
In his address, Mr. Jiwal emphasized the importance of proactive policing and legal action in protecting children. He noted that crimes involving minors require urgent attention and robust inter-agency coordination. Drawing from the recent experience of prosecuting an interstate child trafficking network, he highlighted the department’s commitment to curbing such heinous crimes with sustained intelligence-led operations and cooperation with national agencies.
