Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, July 23: Taking a proactive step toward crime prevention and youth empowerment, the Srikakulam District Police, under the guidance of District Superintendent of Police Sri K.V. Maheshwara Reddy, conducted an extensive awareness campaign in schools and colleges across the district.
Police officers visited educational institutions within various police station limits and engaged directly with students, especially focusing on women’s safety, cyber awareness, and social responsibility.
As part of the initiative, students were sensitized on:
- The importance of staying alert against cybercrimes
- Risks associated with misuse of social media
- Use and benefits of the Shakti App for women’s safety
- Awareness about online harassment, child marriages, and laws protecting women and children
- Concepts like good touch and bad touch for younger students
- Emergency helpline numbers including 1098 (Childline), 1930 (Cyber Fraud Toll-Free), and 112 (Emergency Response)
Students were encouraged to be cautious, informed, and to immediately report any distress or suspicious activity using the provided helpline numbers.
This wide-reaching program reflects the District Police’s commitment to preventive policing through education, ensuring a safer and more aware generation.
