Amritsar, Punjab: In a significant breakthrough against cross-border narco-smuggling, the Amritsar Commissionerate Police has dismantled a well-organised heroin trafficking network with direct links to Pakistan-based smugglers. This major operation underscores the Punjab Police’s unwavering commitment to eradicating drug networks and securing the future of the state’s youth.
Acting on intelligence inputs, police apprehended key accused Sarbjit alias Joban, operating from a border-area village, who was in direct communication with a notorious Pakistani smuggler, Rana. A juvenile accomplice was also arrested, and 1 kg of heroin was recovered from their possession.
Based on their interrogation, the police swiftly arrested two more smugglers — Dharam Singh and Kulbir Singh — from the Ajnala area. The follow-up raids led to the seizure of an additional 5.106 kg of heroin.

• 2 motorcycles
FIRs have been registered at Police Stations Airport and Chheharta under relevant sections of the NDPS Act.
The Punjab Police reaffirmed its resolve to continue the crackdown on narcotics and protect the youth from the menace of drugs.
