Nagapattinam, Tamil Nadu: In view of the upcoming annual festival at the revered Velankanni Holy Arogya Mata Cathedral, scheduled from August 29 to September 8, 2025, Thanjavur Deputy Inspector General of Police, Mr. T. Ziaulhaq, IPS, personally inspected the festival arrangements in Velankanni.
To ensure safety and smooth conduct of the celebrations, the DIG installed additional CCTV cameras across the area as a preventive measure against thefts and other criminal activities. He emphasized the importance of vigilance and formed a dedicated special team to strengthen security during the festival.
During the inspection meeting, Mr. Ziaulhaq issued several key directives, including strict regulation of traffic to ensure hassle-free movement for devotees and workers, and prohibition of sea bathing for public safety. He also provided important guidance to the police teams for effective crowd management and uninterrupted public movement.
Nagapattinam District Superintendent of Police, Mr. Su. Selvakumar, IPS, was also present and assured full support in executing the enhanced security arrangements.
The proactive measures of the police stand as a testament to their commitment in ensuring a safe, peaceful, and well-organized festival for thousands of devotees visiting Velankanni.
