<![CDATA[A drunken brawl among three State government employees resulted in the death of one of them at the police housing quarters in Nandini Layout late on Wednesday night. The deceased, Mr.Uday Kumar, 34, was a first division assistant at the Police DGP office on Nrupatunga Road. The police have arrested his flatmate Raju Kadkol, an office assistant with the Health and Family Welfare Department, for pushing Kumar from the first floor in a fit of rage. Kumar, who hailed from Mandya, was only recently appointed as a first division assistant, getting the job on compassionate grounds after the death of his father who was a sub-inspector in Mandya. His wife works as a constable at the Besagarahalli police station in Maddur. Kumar was allotted a house at the quarters. He allowed another first division assistant who worked in the same office — Vithal Lokapur, a 27-year-old bachelor — to stay with him. However, Vithal had invited Kadkol from his village in Vijayapura to stay with them. This became a bone of contention between them. The men also had a bitter argument over a financial dispute. On Wednesday night, the trio were having a party and, at around 11 p.m., Kumar and Kadkol started arguing. The two of them hit each other with their fists and Lokapur tried, and failed, to pacify them. Kumar sustained a severe head injury on falling. The police rushed him to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed later in the night. The Nandini Layout police have arrested Kadkol for murder.]]>
