Vijayawada City, Andhra Pradesh: In view of the ongoing Sri Durgamalleswara Swamy Varla Dasara Sarannavaratri celebrations, City Police Commissioner Shri V. Rajasekhara Babu, IPS, along with District Collector Shri Lakshmi Sai, IAS, held a high-level review meeting on the security and bandobast arrangements, particularly ahead of Moola Nakshatram and the scheduled visit of Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri N. Chandrababu Naidu.
The meeting, held at the Police Command Control Room of the Model Guest House, was attended by temple Executive Officer Shri Srinivasa Naik and senior officials from multiple departments. Discussions focused on ensuring foolproof security, smooth coordination, and uninterrupted darshan facilities for the large number of devotees expected to throng the temple during the festival.
As part of the modern security plan, drone surveillance, real-time monitoring through command control cameras, and inter-departmental coordination were emphasized. Authorities were directed to remain on high alert, avoid lapses, and ensure that devotees have a safe and hassle-free spiritual experience.
Officials noted that in the past five days, thousands of devotees, including pilgrims from outside the region, have been visiting the temple. To manage the massive influx, holding areas have been set up and arrangements made for providing drinking water, milk, food, and other essential facilities. Police personnel and staff from allied departments were instructed to perform their duties with dedication, patience, and respect toward devotees, ensuring that discipline is maintained without causing inconvenience.
On Moola Nakshatram, when the Chief Minister presents silk garments to Goddess Kanaka Durga on behalf of the state government, additional security measures will be in place to handle the heavy rush of devotees.
Commissioner Shri V. Rajasekhara Babu, IPS, emphasized that this year’s bandobast is not just routine duty but a sacred service during one of the most important festivals of Andhra Pradesh. He urged all officers and staff to perform their responsibilities with devotion, ensuring that the celebrations are conducted peacefully and successfully with the blessings of Ammavaru.
The review meeting was attended by District Collector Shri Lakshmi Sai, IAS, Temple EO Shri Srinivasa Naik, SP Smt. K. Perfect Eye, IPS, SP Shri K. Srinivasa Rao, IPS, Shri Ananda Reddy, Shri Prasad, Additional DCPs, and other senior police and department officials.
