Thiruvarur, Tamil Nadu: A monthly crime review meeting was held on December 16, 2025, at the District Police Office under the chairmanship of Thiruvarur District Superintendent of Police Mr. Karun Karat, IPS, to strengthen crime control and enhance policing efficiency across the district.
All Sub-Divisional and Special Branch Deputy Superintendents of Police, along with Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors, participated in the meeting. Detailed reviews were conducted on cases related to murder, robbery, assault, hooliganism, and theft, and clear directions were issued regarding follow-up actions to ensure effective investigation and timely disposal of cases.
The District SP instructed officers to intensify continuous monitoring and take decisive action to completely eradicate the sale of ganja and banned tobacco products (gutka). He also directed the identification and strict legal action against those involved in illegal liquor sales, sand smuggling, gambling, and lottery operations. Emphasis was laid on proactive enforcement to prevent repeat offences and maintain law and order.
In the interest of road safety, the SP instructed strict enforcement of helmet usage for two-wheeler riders and seat belt compliance for four-wheeler occupants, with firm legal action against violators to reduce road accidents.
Recognizing outstanding performance, SP Mr. Karun Karat, IPS, presented certificates to police officers and personnel who excelled in their duties during the previous month and commended them for their dedication and professionalism.
Earlier in the day, a comprehensive inspection of police vehicles was conducted at the Thiruvarur District Armed Reserve campus. All two-wheelers and four-wheelers in the district were examined, deficiencies were identified, and concerned officers were instructed to rectify the shortcomings immediately before deploying the vehicles.
The review meeting reflected the Thiruvarur Police’s focused, accountable, and performance-driven approach towards effective policing and public safety.
