Kozhikode Rural, Kerala: Demonstrating effective coordination and determined policing, the Koyilandy Police arrested a Tamil Nadu native who had been absconding for two months in connection with a POCSO case involving a minor girl.
The accused, Balaji, a resident of Patthipup Thiruttu village in Thanjavur district, was taken into custody from Tamil Nadu following sustained efforts by the police. The incident had occurred when the 13-year-old victim was staying at her relative’s residence in Kozhikode, after which the accused fled to Tamil Nadu to evade arrest.
Acting on the directions of Kozhikode Rural District Police Chief Sri K.E. Baiju, a special team led by Koyilandy Inspector Sri K. Sumit Kumar, along with ASI C.M. Sunilkumar and SCPO Vivek, traced the accused. Despite resistance during the operation, the police successfully apprehended him with the assistance of Ayyampetta local police.
The timely arrest underscores the Kozhikode Rural Police’s firm commitment to protecting children, ensuring justice for victims, and pursuing offenders across state borders. Police officials reiterated that strict legal action will be taken and that there will be zero tolerance for crimes against minors.
