Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, December 27: Reinforcing the resolve to build a drug-free society, the “Abhyudam Cycle Yatra” from Payakaraopet to Ichchapuram continued with a massive awareness rally in Palasa–Kasibugga town, calling upon youth to stay away from narcotic substances such as ganja and safeguard their future.

A large-scale awareness rally was organized from Indira Chowk to KT Road and up to the Railway Ground, witnessing enthusiastic participation from thousands of people, students, youth, government employees, and members of the public. The programme was graced by local MLA Smt. Gautu Sirisha as the Chief Guest. The event was efficiently organized by Kasibugga DSP Sri Sheikh Shahbaz Ahmed, along with CI Ramakrishna and SI Narasimhamurthy, who ensured the smooth conduct of the cycle rally and public mobilization.

Speaking on the occasion, MLA Gautu Sirisha appreciated the members of the Abhyudam Cycle Yatra team for cycling from Payakaraopet to Ichchapuram to spread awareness and honoured them with Dusaluva. She emphasized that drug abuse not only destroys the individual but also devastates families and society at large, calling for a firm stand against narcotics.

She noted that the initiative has received an overwhelming response from the public, reflecting the vision of State Home Minister Smt. Vangalapudi Anita, and appreciated the police department for successfully conducting the Abhyudam Cycle Yatra across towns and villages, spreading awareness over thousands of kilometers. She urged students and youth to actively partner with society and the police in controlling drug abuse.

Addressing the gathering, DSP Sheikh Shahbaz Ahmed cautioned youth and students against ruining their bright future by falling prey to drug addiction. He warned that strict legal action would be taken against those found consuming ganja, which could also jeopardize employment and career opportunities.

Meanwhile, under the Visakhapatnam Range, the police reiterated the theme “Police–People Partnership for a Drug-Free Society”. The DIG, Visakhapatnam Range, called upon youth to channel their energy into constructive activities and avoid addictions. He highlighted the promotion of sports, arts, and cultural programmes as healthy alternatives and stressed the importance of career guidance, motivation, skill development, and entrepreneurship to prevent drug abuse. The DIG encouraged young people to develop leadership qualities, adopt healthy lifestyles, and serve as volunteer partners with the police in building a drug-free society and contributing to the nation’s development.

The Abhyudam Cycle Yatra stands as a strong example of community-driven policing and youth empowerment, reflecting the police department’s sustained commitment to social awareness and public welfare.
