Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh, January 1, 2026: The 36th National Road Safety Month was inaugurated today at the Traffic Branch premises in Rajnandgaon, accompanied by a Traffic Safety Exhibition. The event was held under the guidance of SP Ms. Ankita Sharma, with Mr. Mukesh Thakur, ASP (Naxal Operations) officially inaugurating the exhibition by cutting the ribbon.
The exhibition showcased traffic models, equipment, educational materials, pamphlets, and posters aimed at promoting road safety and accident prevention. Present at the inauguration were senior officers including ASP Mr. Pushpendra Nayak, Probationary IPS and City SP Ms. Vaishali Jain, Kotwali SHO Inspector Nandkishore Gautam, Lalbagh SHO Inspector Rajesh Sahu, Tumdibod Outpost In-charge Inspector Dilip Patel, Traffic In-charge Inspector Navratan Kashyap, Chikhli Outpost In-charge SI Kailashchand Marai, along with traffic staff, journalists, and local auto/e-rickshaw drivers.
The National Road Safety Month, observed annually from January 1 to January 31, aims to raise awareness about traffic rules and reduce road accidents. During this month, the Rajnandgaon Traffic Police and all district police personnel will conduct:
* Awareness campaigns in urban and rural areas
* Traffic education programs in schools and colleges
* First-aid training for Good Samaritans and road safety volunteers
* Street plays, helmet awareness rallies, pamphlet distribution, and road safety publicity
* Eye and health check-up camps, school bus inspections, and learning license camps
Special emphasis will be placed on addressing common traffic violations such as riding two-wheelers without helmets, driving four-wheelers without seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, drunk driving, over speeding, and carrying passengers in goods vehicles.
The month-long initiative will conclude on January 31, 2026, reinforcing the importance of safe driving habits and strict adherence to traffic regulations.
This program reflects the district police’s commitment to creating a safe and accident-free environment for all road users.
