Delhi: In a significant action against organized crime, the Anti-Narcotics Cell team of North District Police arrested one criminal and apprehended a minor associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, who were wanted in recent firing and extortion cases in East and Outer Delhi.
Acting on credible intelligence, a special police team laid a strategic trap in the Hiranki area of Burari to intercept the suspects. When signaled to stop, one of the accused opened fire at the police. Demonstrating restraint and professionalism, the police returned fire in self-defense, resulting in the accused sustaining a gunshot injury to the leg. Both the adult accused and the minor accomplice were immediately overpowered and taken into custody.
During the operation, the police recovered two pistols, two live cartridges, two mobile phones, and a stolen scooter used for criminal activities.
The Delhi Police stated that the swift action has helped prevent further gang-related violence and extortion attempts. Investigations are underway to trace other associates of the gang and further dismantle their criminal network.
