Rajnandgaon, Chhattisgarh: Shri Balaji Rao Somawar, IPS, the newly appointed Inspector General of Police, Rajnandgaon Range, formally assumed charge of his office on Saturday, January 25, 2026. On the occasion, Superintendent of Police, Rajnandgaon, Ms. Ankita Sharma, welcomed him by presenting a bouquet and extended her warm wishes.
After taking charge, Shri Balaji Rao Somawar was introduced to the senior officers present and held comprehensive discussions on key issues concerning law and order, crime control, public safety, and overall policing in the Rajnandgaon Range. Addressing the officers, he stated that sensitive, impartial, and effective policing for the welfare of common citizens should remain the highest priority of the police force. He also laid special emphasis on strengthening inter-departmental coordination, maintaining discipline, and enhancing operational efficiency.
The assumption of charge meeting was attended by Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Kirtan Rathore, Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Pushpendra Nayak, Additional Superintendent of Police (IG Office) Smt. Geeta Wadhwani, City Superintendent of Police Smt. Vaishali Jain, City Superintendent of Police Shri Alexander Kiro, City Superintendent of Police Smt. Manjulata Baj, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Headquarters) Shri K.P. Markam, Reserve Inspector Shri Lokesh Kumar Kaser, along with officers and staff of the Inspector General of Police office.
The new IG’s vision and directives are expected to further strengthen policing, enhance public trust, and ensure a safer and more secure environment across the Rajnandgaon Range.
