Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh, January 31, 2026: In a proactive step to ensure the safety of schoolchildren, Kakinada District Police conducted a special enforcement drive against autos carrying school children in violation of permit conditions. The drive was carried out as per the instructions of Superintendent of Police Shri Bindu Madhav, IPS, under the supervision of Additional Superintendent of Police Shri Devraj Manish Patil.
During the special drive, around 130 autos operating beyond permitted limits and violating safety norms were seized. Autos found without complete records were handed over to the RTO officials, while necessary legal action and penalties were imposed on other violators. The operation was carried out in coordination with the Regional Transport Office to ensure strict compliance with safety and transport regulations.
As part of the awareness and enforcement initiative, the police issued clear safety instructions to auto drivers, including:
* Not carrying passengers beyond the permitted limit (3+1) or schoolchildren beyond (6+1).
* Fitting iron grills on the right side of school autos.
* Not hanging school bags or luggage outside the auto.
* Not allowing passengers or children to sit with the rear door open.
* Avoiding unsafe seating practices and reckless driving.
* Wearing proper uniform and carrying valid driving licence, registration and vehicle documents.
* Avoiding over speeding and stopping only at designated places.
* Using only government-issued number plates.
* Ensuring side mirrors on both sides of the auto.
* Maintaining valid permit, insurance, fitness and pollution certificates.
The drive was conducted with the active participation of Kakinada Town Traffic CIs and Station CIs, along with RTO officials Shri Harinath Reddy and Shri Gauri Shankar, and traffic personnel.
District Police reiterated that the primary objective of the special drive is the safety of children and appealed to auto drivers and parents to strictly follow safety norms to prevent accidents and ensure secure transportation for students.
