Ernakulam Rural, Kerala: In a major anti-narcotics operation at Vazhakkulam, police seized 51 kilograms of cannabis and arrested one accused involved in storing the contraband.
The accused, Rubel Mulla (25), a native of Murshidabad, West Bengal, was apprehended by the Thadiyatta Paramp Police Station based on credible intelligence inputs.
During the raid conducted at a rented house in T.M.J. Nagar, Vazhakkulam, police discovered the cannabis concealed in sacks and stacked on the floor. An electronic weighing scale used for measuring the contraband was also seized from the premises.
Preliminary investigation revealed that the house had been rented under the guise of accommodating migrant workers. To avoid suspicion, it was made to appear that occupants left for work during the day, while the accused allegedly accessed the premises at night.
The operation was carried out under the supervision of Hardik Meena, Additional Superintendent of Police, Perumbavoor, along with Inspector Manoj K. N. and Sub-Inspectors Aneesh Kumar N. G. and K.A. Noushad. The team also included Civil Police Officers Robin Joy, C.B. Benazir, Mohammed Noufal, and Visakh.
Further investigation is underway to ascertain the source and intended distribution network of the seized contraband. The successful seizure highlights the continued vigilance and coordinated efforts of the police in combating narcotics trafficking in the region.
