Mangalagiri, Andhra Pradesh: The 2nd All India Police South Zone T–20 Cricket Tournament was inaugurated at the 6th Battalion, Mangalagiri, by Hon’ble Home Minister Vangalapudi Anitha and Director General of Police Harish Kumar Gupta.
The tournament, scheduled from February 20 to 24, is being held at the Andhra Cricket Association Grounds, Mulapadu.
A total of 10 teams are participating in the tournament, including police teams from six states — Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Karnataka, and Chhattisgarh — along with two Union Territories, Puducherry and Andaman & Nicobar Islands. Two Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs), National Security Guard (NSG) and Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP), are also competing.
Addressing the gathering, the Home Minister emphasized that sports foster unity, physical fitness, and mental well-being among police personnel. She also suggested organizing a dedicated sports meet for women police personnel in the future.
The DGP stated that the tournament symbolizes unity, discipline, and the spirit of service among police forces. He further announced that matches from the semi-final stage onwards will be telecast live in 160 countries through DD Sports.
Senior police officers and personnel were present at the inaugural ceremony.
