Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: In a proactive initiative to promote road safety, the Srikakulam Traffic Police conducted a special awareness program emphasizing the importance of wearing helmets for two-wheeler riders. The program was held across key locations in Srikakulam town, including Surya Mahal, Ramalakshmana Junction, and seven major roads, under the supervision of Inspector V. Ramarao.
District Superintendent of Police, K. V. Maheshwara Reddy, provided special instructions for the initiative, highlighting the critical role of helmets in preventing head injuries during road accidents. The awareness drive focused on educating riders about road safety rules, the necessity of wearing helmets even for short trips, and the use of quality helmets with ISI certification.
As part of the engagement, traffic staff interacted directly with riders and the public, distributing chocolates to encourage participation and create a friendly environment for spreading awareness. The officers reiterated that wearing a helmet is not just a legal requirement but a vital step to protect life and prevent serious injuries.
Inspector V. Ramarao urged all two-wheeler riders to strictly comply with safety regulations, travel responsibly, and prioritize personal safety. The program reflects the Srikakulam Traffic Police’s ongoing commitment to reducing road accidents and fostering a culture of safety among commuters.
