Dindigul, Tamil Nadu: A team from the Election Flying Squad seized ₹3,01,210 in cash during a routine vehicle inspection at the Chellamandadi Check-post in Dindigul.
The checking was carried out under the leadership of Flying Squad officer Sivaram, who stopped and inspected a passing goods vehicle at the check-post. During the search, officials discovered the cash being transported without valid supporting documents, following which the amount was immediately seized as per election monitoring guidelines.
Subsequently, the seized cash was handed over to Sultan Sikandar, the Assistant Returning Officer of Dindigul West Taluk, at the Taluk office for further action.
During the inquiry, officials found that the vehicle belonged to Universal Distributors, owned by Karthi, and that the cash was being transported by the firm’s manager Kannan.
Assistant Returning Officer Sultan Sikandar stated that the concerned parties may reclaim the seized cash by submitting valid supporting documents to the Personal Assistant (Accounts) to the District Collector at the District Collector’s office, after due verification.
