Agra, Uttar Pradesh: Personnel of Achhnera Police Station apprehended two accused in connection with a cattle theft case during a night checking operation conducted in the intervening hours of May 26 and 27, 2026.
According to police, officers intercepted two suspicious individuals near the Sadhan T-point while they were approaching from the Galla Mandi side. During questioning, the suspects allegedly attempted to flee and reportedly opened fire at the police team.
Police stated that they retaliated in self-defence, during which one accused, Nijmuddin alias Nuiya, sustained a gunshot injury to his leg. Another accused, Rihan, was taken into custody at the scene.
Officials recovered a .315 bore country-made pistol, one live cartridge, and one spent cartridge case from the possession of the accused. The injured accused was shifted to a hospital for medical treatment, while a field unit collected evidence from the spot.
Further legal proceedings are underway in the case. A statement regarding the incident was issued by Mr. Shailendra Singh, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Achhnera.
