Barpeta, Assam: In a major crackdown against drug trafficking, Barpeta Police successfully intercepted a truck carrying a large consignment of narcotic substances concealed inside a specially designed secret cavity of the vehicle.
During the operation, police recovered approximately 671 grams of heroin along with 22,000 YABA tablets. The total market value of the seized contraband is estimated to be around ₹2.44 crore.
According to sources, the truck had entered Assam carrying the illegal consignment when security personnel launched a targeted operation based on specific intelligence inputs. The narcotics were allegedly hidden in a sophisticated concealed chamber inside the vehicle in an attempt to evade detection.
Police officials stated that the seizure marks another significant success in Assam’s ongoing anti-drug campaign under the state government’s intensified drive against narcotics trafficking.
The vehicle has been seized, and the individuals involved have been taken into custody for further investigation. Authorities are currently probing possible interstate and cross-border links connected to the smuggling network.
The operation has once again highlighted the vigilance and proactive efforts of Assam Police in curbing the illegal drug trade across the state.
