Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh: In a commendable road safety initiative, Tekkali DSP D. Lakshmana Rao inaugurated the Abhayam Helmet Bank at Palasa to encourage helmet use among two-wheeler riders and reduce road accident fatalities.
Launched under the guidance of SP K. V. Maheshwara Reddy, the initiative allows motorists who do not have a helmet to borrow one free of charge and return it after purchasing their own. The program aims to make helmet usage a regular habit and reinforce the message that helmets are essential for personal safety, not just legal compliance.

The DSP stressed that both riders and pillion passengers should wear helmets at all times. To spread awareness, police officials, doctors, and local residents participated in a road safety rally wearing helmets and promoting adherence to traffic rules.
The innovative initiative reflects the commitment of the district police to saving lives, preventing road accidents, and building a stronger culture of road safety in the community.
