Gandhi Nagar, Gujarat: In a proactive step to safeguard lives and property during the upcoming monsoon season, State Police Chief Mr. Gyanender Singh Malik chaired a comprehensive review meeting on pre-monsoon preparedness and disaster management. Senior police officers and officials from concerned departments participated in the meeting to assess the state’s readiness for any emergency.

The Police Chief directed all district police units to strengthen disaster response mechanisms and ensure seamless coordination among various agencies. Special emphasis was laid on keeping the wireless communication network fully operational so that uninterrupted communication can be maintained during emergencies, particularly in areas that may be affected by heavy rainfall or floods.

To ensure uninterrupted functioning of police stations and emergency services during power outages, instructions were issued to maintain an adequate stock of diesel and petrol for generator sets at the police station level. This measure is expected to help police personnel continue their operations without disruption during adverse weather conditions.

As part of the state’s pre-monsoon planning, 304 personnel from four companies of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) have already been strategically deployed across vulnerable locations to enable swift rescue and relief operations whenever required.

The Police Chief also instructed the heads of all police stations, police outposts, and government offices to inspect their premises and complete cleaning and maintenance work before the onset of the monsoon. The initiative aims to ensure safe, functional, and disaster-ready government infrastructure.

The review meeting reflected the State Police’s commitment to preparedness, rapid response, and public safety. By taking preventive measures well in advance, the police department aims to minimize the impact of natural disasters and provide timely assistance to citizens throughout the monsoon season.
